Summary
Part A randomized 22 participants (15 to pritelivir, 7 to foscarnet) against a planned 30, after the sponsor ended phase 2 to begin phase 3; Part B treated 8 participants without a comparator. Treatment was open label, and the trial was not designed or powered to detect statistical differences. The primary endpoint did not differ significantly (hazard ratio 2.70; 95% CI 0.33 to 21.83; P = .34). Healing was recorded in 10 of 15 pritelivir recipients by independent photographic review and in 14 of 15 by investigators. Five of 7 foscarnet recipients stopped treatment early. The arms differed in race and in cause of immunosuppression, which was not a stratification factor. AiCuris funded the trial and employs three authors.
